AUSTIN, MINNESOTA -- The funeral for Elberta E. Goodew will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mayer Funeral Home in Austin with the Rev. Gary Gonnerman officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Miss Goodew, 89, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, and formerly of Austin, died Saturday (Sept. 7, 2002) at Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar.

She was born July 3, 1913, in Cambridge, Iowa. The family moved to a farm in the Austin area in 1918. She attended country school and Austin High School. In 1934 the family moved to Austin. Miss Goodew worked for more than 32 years at Hormel Foods Corp., including 26 years in the laboratory of the Research and Development Department. She was a member of the Church of Christ Cedar River, and a book club, and enjoyed reading, bird watching, crossword puzzles and flowers.

Survivors include a brother, Lawrence (Stella) Goodew of Austin. Two sisters, and six brothers preceded her in death.
