AUSTIN, MINNESOTA -- A Mass of Christian burial will be offered for Wilmer John ``Willie'' Hemann at 10 a.m. Saturday at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin with the Rev. Virgil Duellman officiating. Burial will be in Visitation Cemetery in Stacyville, Iowa.
Mr. Hemann, 63, of 306 Second St. S.E., a Minnesota Department of Transportation employee, died Tuesday (March 11, 1997) at his home.
He was born Oct. 8, 1933, in Stacyville, Iowa, and attended Visitation School there. On Oct. 10, 1953, he married Helen Theobald at Visitation Church in Stacyville. Mr. Hemann worked for Golden Dairy for 20 years, was a heavy equipment operator for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for eight years and had been employed by the Minnesota Department of Transportation the past 12 years. He was an usher at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, had been a member of the Eagles Club for 31 years and did volunteer work.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Charles of Austin; two daughters, Sharon (Mrs. Jim) Walters of Dubuque, Iowa, and Suzanne (Mrs. Joe) Ferris of Austin; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Alfred of Austin and Robert of Stacyville; and four sisters, Agnes (Mrs. Charles Weber of Austin, Gertrude Mastek of St. Ansgar, Iowa, Jeanne (Mrs. Dean) Mauer of Riceville, Iowa, and Janet (Mrs. Don) Wilson of Osage, Iowa. Two sons, a daughter and a brother preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Mayer Funeral Home in Austin where the rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
