Ruth Bernice Sullivan, 84, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester of a stroke. Services were held Friday, Sept. 1, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, both in Waterloo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.

Ruth was born April 28, 1922 in New Haven, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Rose Byrnes Miller. She married Donald Omer Sullivan on July 25, 1949 in New Haven.

Ruth was a teacher for eight years in rural Mitchell County and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Maurice Miller; two sisters, Agnes Meirick and Mary Miller and an infant brother, John Miller.

Her survivors include her husband Donald of Waterloo; four children, Richard Sullivan of Iowa City, Betty (Phil) Lamb of River Falls, Wisc.; Mark (Michele) Sullivan of The Colony, Texas and Kevin (Jill) Sullivan of Carrollton, Texas and 10 grandchildren.

Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service of Waterloo had charge of services.
