ORAL CULBERTSON ACCIDENTLY KILLED - AUTO COLLIDED WITH FREIGHT TRAIN AT NORTHWOOD, IOWA. KILLED ORAL. ALVIN MOEN BADLY HURT. OTHERS BRUISED.

Oral Delos Culbertson, son of Mr. & Mrs. Charles M. Culbertson, was born August 20, 1909 at Carpenter, Iowa. He died following an accident on July 14, 1927.

Oral was baptized in the Deer Creek Lutheran congregation by Rev. M. E. Waldeland and confirmed on March 16, 1924. He was a kind and loving son, a willing brother and friend to all. His loss will be greatly felt. He leaves to mourn his loss his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Charles M. Culbertson; 3 sisters and 3 brothers, whose names are: Mrs. Milton A. Thompson, of Chester, IA; Mrs. Lincoln N. Priem and Ruth Culbertson of Carpenter, IA; Russel Culbertson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Nuel and Claud Culbertson of Carpenter, Iowa; besides a number of other relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral was conducted at the Deer Creek Lutheran church on Sunday afternoon, July 17, in the presence of the largest assembly that has ever gathered there. There were several hundred cars parked within the church yard enclosure and along the roads leading from the church in three directions. A crowd of approximately 2,000 people expressed by presence their deep sympathy with the Culbertson family. Windows were taken out of the church, which greatly facilitated hearing songs and sermon by the many attendants who gathered outside the building for lack of room within.

The Nicholsen sisters sang three beautiful duets. Rev. O.R.A. Tollefson of Mason City assisted Rev. Waldeland to preach. A profusion of flowers literally covered the altar and railing of the church and a great many of the friends in the audience placed wreaths upon Oral's casket.
