Funeral services for Floyd Cyrus Smith, age 92, of Austin, Minnesota, were held Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with the Reverend Lance Kittleson officiating. Floyd died Saturday morning, April 1, 2006, at The Cedars in Austin. Interment was in the Osage Cemetery, Osage, Iowa.

He was born to Carl and Cecelia (Gerbig) Smith in Stacyville, Iowa, on December 25, 1913. At six months of age he moved with his parents to a farm on the Iowa side of State Line Road east of Lyle. He attended country school through eighth grade, then one year of high school in Osage, Iowa, completing high school in Rose Creek while rooming with his grandparents.

Floyd married Evelyn Wohlers at the bride's parents' home in rural Dexter, Minnesota on December 9, 1945. After marriage they continued to live and farm the family farm. He was devoted to farming and loved to see things grow. A member of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Toeterville, Iowa, Floyd served on the church council. He enjoyed traveling and made trips to the Black Hills, Yellowstone and Branson, Mo. He also made several winter trips to California to visit his son Roger and family. After retirement Floyd and Evelyn moved to an apartment in Austin, Minnesota.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Carl and Cecelia Smith; one brother, Glen; one sister, Viola and one son, Dean Robert Smith.

Surviving him are his wife of 60 years, Evelyn Smith, Austin, Minn.; son, Roger Smith, Alamo, Calif.; granddaughters Allison Smith and Amy Smith, Alamo, Calif.; sister-in-law, Donna Keck, San Bernadino, Calif.; several cousins and other relatives.
