Funeral services for Allene Marian (McCord) Minnis, age 89, of Osage, Iowa, were held Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, at the United Church of Christ in Osage, with Rev. Robert Melhorn officiating.

Burial was at Riverside Cemetery in Riceville. She died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at the Faith Home in Osage.

Allene was born April 2, 1916, near Iowa Falls the daughter of Everett and Mabel (Ellefson) McCord. She graduated from Iowa Falls High School and Ellsworth College. Allene was united in marriage to Robert W. Minnis on July 6, 1940, at Allene's parent's home in Iowa Falls. Allene taught at the Racine Country School near Iowa Falls.

She co-owned the Red Hut in Riceville with Inez Holmes, substitute taught in Osage Schools, and worked at Tesch's Paint and Sundries in Osage. Allene was a member of the United Church of Christ, Wa Tan Ye, and D.A.R.

Allene was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert in 2004; son Bruce Minnis; sister, Ruby Kane; brother-in-law, Jerry Kane and brother-in-law, Leonard Priestly.

She is survived by three children, William (Debbie) Minnis of Sheppard, Mich., Sara (James) Krueger of Neenah, Wis., Frank (Sara) Minnis of Des Moines; grandchildren James (Heather) Minnis of White Bluff, Tenn., Rebecca ( Bobbie) Rose of Nashville, Tenn., Heather (Al) Helgeson of De Pere, Wis., Jenny (friend Mike) Krueger of Neenah, Wis., Emily (partner Leslie) Minnis of Bend, Ore., Ben (friend Kacy) Minnis of Eugene, Ore.; great-grandchildren: Robert Rose Ill., Nashville, Tenn., Mallory and Cade Minnis of White Bluff, Tenn.; sister Connie Priestly of Sacramento, Calif.; brothers Robert (Lillian) McCord and Frank (Cathy) McCord of Iowa Falls; sister-in-law Jean Minnis of Norman, Okla.; many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
