Obituary.
Horatio M. Rodgers died at his home near Riceville, Iowa May 18, 1889. Mr. Rogers was born at West Hebron, Washington Co. N.Y., July 4, 1819. In 1842, he went to Glennes Falls, N.Y. and engaged in the mercantile business in that place.
October 10, 1843, he was married to Mary Ann Philo and shortly afterward moved to Dane county, Wis., where he resided for a number of years, engaged in farming.
In 1867, he with his family moved to Mitchell county, Iowa, where he resided until his death.
The deceased was afflicted with the asthma for twelve years. The first of last November dropsy set in.
Since that time he was a great sufferer, most of the time entirely helpless. He was a kind and affectionate husband and father. He leaves a wife and five children to mourn his loss.
Sunday May 19, his remains were laid to rest in the Riceville cemetery Rev. C. F. Cassidy officiated.
