Obituary
On Sunday morning, September 7, 1890, a little after 12 o’clock, the pure spirit of Jane Ann Buckmaster passed away. She was born in Putnam county, N.Y., Feb. 20, 1819, where she lived until her marriage to F. J. Buckmaster Feb. 20, 1840, at the parish residence of Rev. McLeod in Pattersonville, N.Y., according to the ritual of the Episcopal church. Says the old man now-the husband of her youth and age- “Sis and I have always been happy and we often said we had nothing to do with our marriage. It was all of God, “and the Lord hath given, and the Lord hath taken away.”
Three children were born to them, a daughter Frances Ann, who died when nine days old, Mrs. Frances Brush, and Mrs. Julia Augustas Brush. About eighteen years of the married life of the deceased was spent at New York near her home, and thirty-three years here where she died.
She was converted at the age of twenty, and united with the Methodist Episcopal church in New York and Rev. Dr. Brush, now President of the Dakota University was her pastor at the time of her removal westward.
She has lived a happy and consistent Christian life, and passed beyond in the full hope of reward from her Saviour.
She was buried from her residence Monday afternoon the 8th inst. The funeral services conducted by her pastor, Rev. Eugene May. Text, Rev. xxii, ii. “On either side of the river was the bread of life.”
