Obituary.
Charles A. Short was born at Fillmore, Minn., July 30, 1868 and departed this life at Iowa City July 15, 1929. At the time of his death he was 60 years, 11 months and 15 days. He came with his parents to Iowa settling on a farm near Brownville where they made their home for several years, later moving to Riceville where he grew to manhood. In 1896 he was married to Miss Irma Walford of Spring Valley, Minn. Mrs. Short preceeded him in death seven years ago.
Six children came to bless their home, Asa, who resides in Austin; Lucy, who died 9 years ago, Ruth, now Mrs. L. C. Moore of Waterloo; Grace who died in infancy and Gertrude at home who are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving father. He also leaves two brothers, Wm. Short of Jaunita, N.D. and Warren Short of Shellsburg, Ia., and a sister, Mrs. Della Edwards of Minneapolis and twelve grandchildren.
Mr Short has been in the employee of the Great Western railroad for the past twenty years, but failing health compelled him to abandon his work last winter from which time he failed rapidly until death. The funeral was held in the Methodist church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock Rev. O. J. Felter officiated. Interment was in the Wayne cemetery.
Those from away who were here to attend the Charles Short funeral were: Mrs Byron Watson and children of Austin, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Moore of Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs Asa Short of Plymouth, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Short of Juanita, N.D and Warren Short of Shellsburg, Iowa.
We wish to thank all of our friends who so kindly remembered us in the dark hour of sorrow, also for the many beautiful floral offerings and the chior, who rendered the beautiful hymns.
