Jacob Snively was born near Niagra Falls, Ontario, March 22, 1813, and died at New Haven, Iowa, March 2, 1899.
He was married to Anna Buchner Jan. 27, 1837. In 1858 they came to Illinois, locating near Rockford.
In the last year of the war of the rebellion he became a soldier in the union army. In 1866 they came to Floyd county, Iowa, thence to Mitchell County in 1868.
His wife departed this life June 6, 1887. They were the parents of four sons, and two daughters, all living except one daughter. The funeral service was conducted by his pastor, Rev. G. B. Crinklaw, in the Methodist church in New Haven, March 4th and the remains interred in the cemetery at Stillwater.
