Mrs. Boor [sic], of Stacyville, committed suicide one day last week by hanging herself in the granary. Particulars will be found in our Stacyville letter.

-- --

Mrs. Boor [sic] was found dead in the granary one morning last week. Her husband died some years ago, since which time she has at times appeared not perfectly sane, and has often talked of killing herself, assigning at different times various reasons for doing so.

On the morning in question she arose as usual and set the table for the family, after which she cleared away the dishes and set the board. After preparing the lunch for the boys who were harvesting, went to the granary, and nothing more was seen of her until she was found dead, hanging by a rope halter from a collar beam. She had evidently stood on a barrel while arranging the rope, and jumping therefrom when all was ready, the distance not being long enough to dislocate the neck. She must have strangled, and to do this she was obliged to hold her feet up to keep them from touching the floor.

Mrs. Boor was, during the life of her husband, a kind wife and good mother, and a useful member of society, since that event she has been none the less motherly, but has at times been subject to fits of melancholy, in one of which she has undoubtedly ended her own life.

The family have the sympathy of their many friends in this their sudden and sad bereavement.
