Peter Reish, an old and respected resident of Burr Oak township, died suddenly of dropsy of the heart, on the 19th inst. The wife and family have our warmest sympathies.
~Mitchell Co. Press, Osage, Thursday, March 21, 1878; pg 5The same paper, date & page printed the following, which has some conflicting info.:
Peter Reish, of Douglas township, died suddenly on Tuesday. He had been sick with dropsy for some time, but was better and improving so as to be up and about.
On that day his friends came to town on business, leaving him alone at his home. On their return they found him dead sitting in his chair. It is supposed that during the absence of his friends he had an apoplectic stroke and died without a struggle.
He was a German, and came here, we believe, from Columbia county, Penn.

Note: WPA Graves Registration gives his dates as 2/28/1834 - 3/19/1878, and burial in Osage cemetery
