Kenneth LaVerne Nelson, 63, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, passed away August 24, 2021. A visitation will be held September 2, 2021 at Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar. A Celebration of Life will be held September 3, 2021, at the Carpenter Community Center. In honor of Ken's love for riding motorcycle, we ask that you ride your bike if able and wear Harley apparel or casual attire.

Ken was born in Osage, Iowa, on April 4, 1958, to the parents of LaVerne and Grace (Duncomb) Nelson. He graduated from St. Ansgar High School and after a few years of welding in Mason City, he spent the remainder of his life working on the family farm and at St. Ansgar Mills.

Ken married his loving wife, Karen, in 2016, while on a motorcycle trip to Las Vegas with friends and family. Ken was a caring, hardworking man and father, with a deep love for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed farming, gardening, bowling, and riding his Harley.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; his sons: Joshua (Sarah) Nelson, and Lucas (Deneen) Nelson; his step-children: Brad (Sara) Gerk, Betsy (Josiah) Bushlack, and Kayla (Chris) Redfern; his eleven grandchildren; his two brothers: Russell (Kari) Nelson, and Alan (Sheryl) Nelson; in addition to many extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents, LaVerne and Grace Nelson, maternal grandparents, Ralph and Edith Duncomb, and paternal grandparents, Ernest and Laura Nelson in addition to many aunts, uncles and extended family.

Ken's memory will live on in the many lives of those he touched, and he will be deeply missed.

Burial will take place at the St. Ansgar City Cemetery.
