Arnold Eugene Groth, 86, St. Ansgar died Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 6th 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with Rev. Mark Squier officiating. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, July 5th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar.

Arnie was born on May 28th, 1933 to Henry and Ida Groth at the home farm, northeast of St. Ansgar. Arnie was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he remained a lifetime member and on February 10th 1952 he married Gladys Stromley and raised five children. Arnie farmed and raised livestock. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, watching Twins and Vikings games and watching St. Ansgar Saints baseball and football. He drove throughout the United States delivering Winnebago campers and Featherlite trailers for many years. He loved the Lord and his wife of 66 years.

Arnie was preceded in death by Gladys, parents Henry and Ida Groth, parents-in-law Carl and Nettie Stromley and sister Arlene.

He is survived by daughter, Linda and Rick Poole of Oklahoma City, grandson Jeremy and Chelsea McConnell and great-grandson Oaks, step-granddaughter Amanda (Poole) and Andy Wilson and great-grandson Miles; daughter, Kay Groth of St. Ansgar; son, Alan and Lisa Groth of St. Ansgar, granddaughter Ashley and Adam Mitchell, great-grandsons Leo and Abe, granddaughter Chelsea Groth; son, John and Lu Groth of St. Ansgar, grandson Jacob and Ashley, granddaughter Gusty and Keith Adams, granddaughter Sadie Groth; daughter, Sharon Groth of Austin; sister Dorothy Sponheim and brother Paul (Barb) Groth.

Family requests memorials go to St. Ansgar Rescue and Mercy One North Iowa Hospice.
