Benjamin “Ben” Bauman, age 83, of Osage, died Thursday July 11, 2019, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at the Osage Cemetery, with Rev. Bryan Odeen officiating.

Ben was born October 13, 1935, in a farmhouse northwest of Stacyville, near the Union Presbyterian Church, the son of Arthur and Florence (Gerbig) Bauman. Ben was baptized at the Union Presbyterian Church.

He served in the US Army 26th Infantry Division from 1958 to 1961 and was stationed in Germany. While in the Army, he received his GED. Ben then worked for Ed Huebsch in the Turkey Insemination Service from 1961 to 1971.

Later, in 1971, he started working for Winnebago Industries in Forest City and retired from there in 1997. Ben enjoyed fishing and going to rummage sales, flea markets and casinos with his friend Olive.

Ben is survived by his nieces and nephews, Steven (Eleanor) Bauman of Emmons, Minnesota, Duane (Wanda) Garden of Acme, Pennsylvania, Barbara Garden of Charles City, Mike (Sharon) Garden of Osage, and Bob (Janet) Garden of Charles City; special friend, Barry Gaarder of Marshalltown; and several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Bauman; sister, Arlene Garden; and special friend, Olive Gaarder.*
