Mary Scheer

Mary Scheer, age 90, of Osage, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage. Cremation has taken place.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. Inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. After the services there will be a time of fellowship and lunch in the parish hall.

Mary was born April 10, 1929, in Stacyville, Iowa, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Hackenmiller) Schumacher. She graduated from Visitation High School in Stacyville. On July 19, 1947, Mary married Gerald Scheer in Stacyville at Visitation Catholic Church. She worked as Operating Room Technician at Mitchell County Hospital and was also a homemaker. Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Guild and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles and above all her grandbabies.

Mary is survived by her children, Karen (Steve) McCormick of Bismarck, North Dakota, Tom (Carol) Scheer of Arlington, Texas, Tim (Judy) Scheer of Lakeville, Minnesota Jane (Nick) Fox of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Pat Scheer of Osage, Sue (Paul) Shepperdson of Bemidji, Minnesota and Michael Scheer of Osage; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and by a brother-in-law, Jean Schilling of Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald “G.T.” in 2004; brothers, Hubert Schumacher and Roman Schumacher; sister, Dorothy Brumm
