Lester Durben
Lester Arthur Durben, age 80, of Meyer, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
Lester was never one for attention, so per his wishes, he was cremated and a private family graveside service will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Lester was born June 7, 1938, in Meyer the son of Arthur and Louise (Weber) Durben. Lester was educated at Sacred Heart in Meyer. After completing eighth grade he began farming. Lester also became a cattle buyer. With persistence he continued both throughout his life. He adapted to changing circumstances and always said, “If you’re not moving forward, you’re going backwards.” Lester was happiest while picking corn. He was especially happy seeing the success of his children and grandchildren.
Lester is survived by his wife, Ann Durben of Meyer; daughters, Sheila Durben of Stacyville, Brenda (Del) Jensen of Plymouth, Minnesota and Marlene (Rob) Weis of Meyer; grandchildren, Ami Jensen, Alex Jensen, Brittany Weis, Willie (Nikki) Weis and Ben Weis; great-granddaughter, Dallas Weis; siblings, Anicita (Kenny) Overocker of Austin, Minnesota and Eileen Koenigs of Adams, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Leo (Sharon) Runde; and sister-in-law, Mary (Tom) Wilcox.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Therese Halbach in 2003; his parents, Art and Louise Durben; siblings, Stan (Caroline) Durben, Ambrose (Rosie) Durben and Alverna (Elmer) Miller; and by a brother-in-law, Marvin Koenigs
Lester appreciated the great personal care he received at Faith Lutheran Home, and for this his family is thankful.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may consider a donation to the Meyer Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund.
