Daniel Chavez, age 69, of Stacyville, died Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at his home in Stacyville, Iowa.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2019, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. Burial will be at the Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Stacyville. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville, with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m.

Daniel was born May 21, 1949, in San Francisco, California, the son of Jesus and Ruby (Mascarenas) Chavez. He worked as a machinist in the shipyards in San Francisco. Daniel was united in marriage to Patricia K. Barrett on July 8, 1995, in Reno, Nevada. He was a member of the Visitation Catholic Church. In his younger years, Daniel was a percussionist in a band, with his life-long friend Mike Nastari. He enjoyed reading and watching westerns.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Patricia Chavez of Stacyville; three sons, Daniel (Corine) Chavez of San Lorenzo, California, Valentino (Erica) Chavez of San Bruno, California, and Alberto (Jessica) Chavez of Millbrae, California; grandchildren, Elena Chavez, Valentino Chavez II, Brian Chavez, Alberto Chavez II, Diondra Lopez, Timothy Tinoco, and Emily Chavez; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and three sisters.
