Steven Lyn Smith, age 66, of Osage, died Monday, October 22, 2018, at his home in Osage.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2018, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with Pastor Richard Chinander officiating. Burial will be at the Osage Cemetery, with Military Honors by Osage American Legion Post 278. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Steven was born March 12, 1952, in Iowa Falls, the son of Bernard and Mary Lou (Hilpipre) Smith. He graduated from Osage High School in 1970, and then served in the United States Marine Corps. Steven was united in marriage to Julie Kermes at Wee Kirk O’Heather in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 6, 1987. He worked for Hormel Foods in Austin Minnesota and retired from there on July 30, 2012. He was a member of the Osage American Legion Post 278. Steven loved spending time with his family most of all.

Steven is survived by his wife, Julie Smith of Osage; parents, Mary Lou (Vernon) Diederich of Osage; father and mother-in-law, Charles and Mary Kermes of Hayward, Minnesota; children, Tanya Root of Shakopee, Minnesota, Tiffany (JP) Zanin of Chicago, Illinois, Torey (Gerry) Keck of Osage, Arlington (Lori) Hillman of Austin, Minnesota, Lonnie (Jennifer) Hillman of St. Ansgar and Codie Smith of Mason City; 16 grandchildren; siblings, Twyla (Jim) Rodemaker of Osage, Alan (LeGene) Smith of Osage, Brad (Donna) Smith of Urbandale and Angie (Curt) Younker of Osage.

Steven was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Smith and his grandparents.
