Olven Leo Rohde, age 76 of Osage, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Society.
Mr. Rohde was born October 21, 1941 in Mona, Iowa, the son of George H. and Millie P. (Barnett) Rohde. He was from a large family, growing up and attending school in Mona with eight brothers and four sisters. Olven belonged to Mona Lutheran Church, and in his leisure time enjoyed being outside fishing, doing lawn work, and going to the fair and to amusement parks.
He was great at repairs, often tinkering with lawn mowers and other small motors. Olven was especially entertained by watching old-time television shows and he spent countless hours caring for his nieces and nephews. He was a devoted brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Olven is survived by his brother Duane Rohde of Maplewood, Minnesota, and his sisters Reta Rohde of Austin, and Rosella (Richard) Hagelund of St. Ansgar, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, others relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at Mona Lutheran Church, Mona, Iowa, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018 with Pastor Scott Meyer officiating. There will be a visitation held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 14 at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Austin.
Services prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.
