Died: August 24, 2018

Marjorie Mayer, age 92, of Stacyville, died Friday, August 24, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society in St. Ansgar.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. Burial will be at Visitation Catholic Cemetery.

Marjorie was born May 14, 1926, near Johnsburg, Minnesota, the daughter of Joseph and Rosina (Faas) Thome. She was educated in the Catholic school at Meyer, Iowa. On November 27, 1946, Marjorie married Gene Mayer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Meyer. They farmed in the Meyer and Stacyville area. She was a member of Visitation Catholic Church and the Stacyville American Legion Auxiliary. Marjorie enjoyed spending time with her family and babysat for many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed card games and baking cookies.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Terry (Linda) Mayer of St. Ansgar, Sandra Mayer of Rochester, Minnesota, Wanda (Dan) Warrington of St. Ansgar, Diane (Matt) Duvall of Conifer, Colorado, Gwen (Josh) Isler of St. Ansgar, and Dean (Diane) Mayer of St. Ansgar; daughter-in-law, Grace Mayer and friend, Mark of Mazeppa, Minnesota; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Imelda (Vernon) Mayer of Stacyville, Lorena (Ray) Panhoff of Ventura, and Emilie (Wayne) Gerlach of Carterville, Illinois; and sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mildred Thome of Osage, Mary Thome of Adams, Minnesota, Arlene Brown of Osage, and Glenn (Janet) Mayer of Stacyville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Mayer in 2007; her parents; her sons, Kevin Mayer and Wayne (Bonita) Mayer; sister, Mary (Anthony) Young; brothers, Joe (Arlene) Thome, Ben Thome and Ralph Thome; and brothers-in-law, Larry Hayungs and Gene Brown.
