Obituary for Aileen L Kirchhoff
September 30, 1936 - August 15, 2018
Aileen LaVonne Kirchhoff, age 81, passed away on August 15, 2018 at her home in Riceville, Iowa.
Aileen was born on September 30, 1936 in Eldora, Iowa, the daughter of Eugene and Helena (Brown) Williams. The youngest of seven children, she was born a twin. Her twin, Beryl, passed in December 1936.
On January 18, 1954 she married John Kirchhoff in Austin, Minnesota. She was a farmer’s wife most of her life, tending to huge gardens and canning hundreds of jars of produce every summer. Aileen enjoyed working at the Riceville Sale Barn, Comp. Systems, Wallace and the Riceville Nursing Home. Everywhere she went she found a new friend. Aileen had a knack for talking to strangers and finding out they knew someone in common.
She enjoyed going out to eat, attending coffee club, socializing and playing 500 with the neighbors during the days on the farm. Aileen also found time to travel. Her traveling took her across the United States and several trips to Germany.
After Johnny passed away, Aileen found a companion in Dale Nilges. They enjoyed their time together camping in Texas during the winter months. Aileen and her brother, Dave became inseparable after the passing of Dale. They went everywhere together, and were a wonderful help to each other. When Dave passed away, Aileen decided it would be best to have a canine companion. Her rescue Yorkie named Sammy would become her best friend.
Survivors include her two children: Marlon Kirchhoff of New Providence, Iowa and Lori Ellingson (Sheryl II) of Osage, Iowa; six grandchildren: Amanda, Allison, Conrad (Abby), Randy (Theresa), Ashley (Bill) and Heather (Devon); ten great-grandchildren and one on the way. She is also survived by her dear friend, Sharon Eastman.
Aileen is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny, her parents, Eugene and Helena, twin brother, Beryl, brothers: Duane, David, Ronnie, and Gail, a sister, Alice; two great-granddaughters: Morgan and Elizabeth; and nieces Julie and Merilean.
