U.S. VETERAN

MITCHELL COUNTY, IOWA - Richard L. Williams (Dick), age 83, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.

Funeral services and burial will be held at 12:30 pm, Friday, June 29th, 2018, at Jacksonville National Cemetery with full military honors: 4083 Lannie Rd., Jacksonville, Fl 32218.

Richard was born October 9, 1934, on the farm northeast of Little Cedar, Iowa, the son of Henry and Marion (Hocum) Williams. After graduating High School he entered the Army in 1953. After basic training he became a Paratrooper, served in Japan, attended helicopter mechanic schools and discharged with the rank of E-6 and 11 years of service.

He was employed at Hill AFB in Utah, Boeing Aircraft, Everett, Washington and then Cash Building Material in Jacksonville, Fl., for 26 years as Fleet Manager and Safety Director. He was a licensed FAA aircraft mechanic and had an advanced FCC amateur radio license.

Richard is survived by a son Richard L. Williams Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida and daughter Josette Bozzella of Mitchell, South Dakota: several grandchildren and great-grandchildren: brother Brad Williams of Greene, Iowa, nieces/nephews, cousins and close friends.
