Died: April 18, 2018

Paul Anthony Smith, a devoted family man and dedicated farmer, died Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, following a brief battle with cancer, at the age of 51. Cremation has taken place.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2018, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. Inurnment will be at Visitation Catholic Cemetery. Following services, there will be a time to greet the family with lunch served in the church hall.

Paul was born May 28, 1966, in Rochester, Minnesota, the son of Raymond and Marjorie (Blake) Smith. He was the youngest of 12 children. He graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1984. On July 2, 1988, Paul married Lesa Penney at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. To this union, two children were born; Cole and Ally.

Paul enjoyed raising cattle and growing crops alongside his family. Most Mondays were spent at the Cresco Sale Barn. He was known for always having a caring ear and giving the best advice.

Paul is preceded in death by his daughter, Ally Smith in 2011; parents, Raymond and Marjorie Smith; siblings, Kathy (Alan) Sonne, Kenny Smith, and Joyce (Vance) Krebsbach.

Paul is survived by his wife of 29 years, Lesa Smith; his son, Cole (Jessica) Smith; his grandson, Lane Smith; his siblings, Dale (Mary) Smith, Dennis (Carol) Smith, Sherry (Todd) Brandt, Roger Smith, Mike (Julie) Smith, Joseph (Karla) Smith, Glen Smith, and Donna (Larry) Adams.

He will be greatly missed by many family members and friends.
