OBITUARY

Nels Lauritz Anderson Westby was born at Larvik, Norway, April 30, 1878. He was confirmed there April 24, 1892. Seven years ago he came from Norway to Mason City, Iowa, where he has worked continually since that time with the exception of a few months a year ago, when he visited his parents in Norway.

While in Norway he was married to Miss Sophie Olsen. He again came to Mason City to prepare a home for his bride whom he expected to send for in the near future.

He has had poor health off and on all winter. Two weeks ago he was stricken with pneumonia. He succumbed to this dread disease on March 24, 1913.

His relatives report him highly esteemed by all his associates in Mason City.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. Waldeland on March 28. After a brief service at the house the mourners and friends proceeded to the German Lutheran church which was well filled. At the conclusion of the services which were in English the remains were laid to rest at the cemetery east of Carpenter.
