OBITUARY OF OLGA A. RUUD

Olga A. Ruud, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P.S. Ruud, was born September 9, 1898, at Carpenter, Iowa, and died August 11, 1921, at Rochester, MN. Death was caused by acute bronchitis and pneumonia.

Olga was baptized at the Deer Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church November 27, 1898 and was confirmed by her pastor, Rev. M.E. Waldeland, June 7, 194 to which church she remained faithful.

In 1920, while a student at the Upper Iowa University, Olga suffered a breakdown, but continued her school work until the end of the year in spite of her sickness. She never fully recovered from this illness and visited Rochester doctors who benefitted her, but forbade her to return to school.

Several attacks during the winter and spring wee short-lived. In the late spring she appeared to be recovering from the illness, which was diagnosed as chronic nephritis, but was taken ill suddenly with bronchitis which developed into plural pneumonia.

Olga was the youngest of six children. She received her freshman and sophomore high school education in Rochester, where she made many friends and also at Carpenter and at Mason City, where she completed her high school course graduating with the class of 1919. The following fall she entered the Upper Iowa University.

She was a girl of individuality an strong character, and it was her aim to finish a college course. When the doctors told her she would have to discontinue her school work, it was indeed a great disappointment.

Besides her sorrowing parents, she leaves three sisters, Mrs. Scott D. Smith and Miss Della Ruud of Mason City and Mrs. Sam Huber of Meltonville; and two brothers, S.B. Ruud of Aberdeen, South Dakota and J. E. Ruud of Albert Lea, Minnesota.
