Obituary for Orville Wilford Kapka
Orville Wilford Kapka, age 92, of Riceville, Iowa passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, January 8, 2018 at the Colonial Manor in Elma, Iowa.
Orville was born on January 6, 1926, to Julius and Gertrude (Lubbert) Kapka on the family farm in Howard County. He attended local rural schools. He began farming with his father and his brother, Lavern. In 1952 Orville served his country in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany until 1954. After the service he returned home to farm and raise livestock, especially sheep. He was always willing to share his knowledge of raising sheep with others. Orville enjoyed watching professional football. He was still farming up to the age of 91 with his nephew, until going into the rest home in Elma this past December.
Orville is survived by this two sisters; Wilma Gesell of Elma, Iowa, and Velda Myers of Riceville, Iowa. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother; Lavern and a sister; Velma Kruger.
