Osage- Clyde L. Martin, 94, of Osage, Iowa, died Thursday (November 2, 2017) at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.
A funeral service will be held 1:00pm Thursday (November 9, 2017) at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City with the Rev. Kenneth Gehling officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the chapel.
Clyde Lemon Martin was born on May 8, 1923, a son of June and Amanda (Norris) Martin in Sullivan County, MO. He was the youngest of 12 children.
He attended school in Sullivan County before joining the United States Army in 1942. After being honorably discharged, Clyde started his roofing business.
He married Pauline Sampson in 1947 and to this union three children were born, Clyde Jr., James, and Eldon. Clyde retired in 1985 at the age of 63. After his wife Pauline passed in 1989, Clyde moved to Osage to be closer to his friend, Mabel Roby-Voshell.
Clyde loved dancing at the VFW in Mason City, gardening, doing yard work and cooking. He was especially good at baking pies.
He is survived by his children, James (Becky) Martin, Mason City and Eldon (Belinda) Martin, Nevada; seven grandchildren: Victor Melhus, Julie (Stevan) Lunde, Stacy (Julius) Talabis, Amy Martin, Paul Martin, Brenda Martin and Angie (Earl) Barker; 14 great-grandchildren and special friends, Jim and Tammy Miller, Fisher, WV, Nick (Carrie) Sparrow, Chris (Sharon) Reinardy, Nick (Katelind) Lenz, Lee and Brian Jones, and Gary Roby.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, June and Amanda (Norris) Martin, his wife, Pauline Martin, a son, Clyde Martin Jr, and 11 siblings, Asa Amos Martin, Oval Martin, Melvin Martin, Glenn Martin, Bessie Martin Eveland, Joe Martin, Paul T. Martin, Odessa Irene Martin Neely, Lloyd Willard Martin, Vyron W. Martin Lloyd, and Claude J. Martin, and a close friend Mabel Voshell.
