Catherine L. Blaser, age 93, formerly of New Haven, died Tuesday October 24, 2017, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage. Catherine’s amazing earthly journey came to an end so that she might begin a new life with our Lord, Jesus Christ.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in New Haven with Father Mark Murphy officiating. Inurnment will be in the St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, immediately after the service. A light snack will follow the inurnment in the church basement hall.
Catherine was born May 12, 1924, in St. Ansgar, and was the daughter of Paul and Mary (Egan) Palmer. Her family lived in Stacyville, during her early years and then moved to Rochester, Minnesota, where Catherine graduated from high school.
Catherine was married to Verne Kempf in 1943, and to this union ten children were born. After Verne’s death in 1961, Catherine married Roger Blaser in 1966, and to this union one child was born. Her married life took her to Michigan for a few years, Catherine and Verne eventually settled in New Haven, where she lived for over 30 years. Catherine was a gifted seamstress, artist-decorator, enjoyed playing cards (especially 500), and loved to play BINGO! Catherine was a very devout Catholic and spent countless hours praying the rosary.
Catherine is survived by four sons, Rel Kempf of San Mateo, California, Mike (Julie) Kempf of Cresco, Pat (Athena) Kempf of Chicago, Illinois, and Kevin (Julie) Blaser of Roswell, Georgia; four daughters, Jenny (Mike) Russell of Boerne, Texas, Mary (Don) Squyres of Mountainburg, Arkansas, Carmen (Jim) Beddow of Kasson, Minnesota and Yvonne (Larry) Smith of Madison, Wisconsin; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Joel Kempf and Stuart Kempf; her daughter, Shelley Fox; her parents and her siblings, Norine Belnap, Louise Halbach, Mary McGovern and Jim Palmer.
