Died September 25, 2017

Jean Idel Lathrop, age 95, of Osage, Iowa, died Monday, September 25, 2017, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church in Osage with Pastor Julie Schubert officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. The family will greet friends and family from 5 to 7pm.Wednesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Jean was born April 3, 1922, in Osage, Iowa, the oldest of three children, to Martin G. and Ida Grace (Kelly) Klar. She was united in marriage to Donald W. Lathrop on November 28, 1952, and had five children. Jean was a resident of Osage her entire life.

Jean earned her Normal Training Certificate and taught in rural schools in Mitchell County. She attended Luther College in Decorah and Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church. Jean enjoyed time with her family, traveling and winters in Arizona.

Jean leaves to celebrate her life and mourn her passing four daughters, Kay Bartrom (Pat Bradshaw), Donna (Dave) Danklef, Linda Lathrop and Lori (Doug) Neve; one son, Paul Lathrop; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Lathrop in 2000; sister, Darlene Klar Griner and brother, Luvern Klar.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Osage.
