Obituary for Darlene Brownlow
Darlene A. Brownlow, 74, of Columbus, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 on her farm in Riceville, Iowa, surrounded by her family.
Darlene A. Brownlow was born on September 14, 1943, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Otto K. and Evelyn A. (Schutt) Schaumburg. She graduated from Riceville High School in 1961.
Darlene was united in marriage to William F. Brownlow at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Elma, Iowa, on June 18, 1966. Darlene worked at a grocery store in Charles City, Iowa, after high school. Following marriage, Darlene began farming and raising livestock until 2002 when she began working at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN as a Patient Care Representative. She retired from the Mayo Clinic in 2012.
Darlene moved to Columbus, Nebraska, in 2013, to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Darlene's hobbies included crocheting, needle point, reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Riceville, Iowa.
Survivors include son Raymond of Gothenburg. NE; grandson, Matthew; daughter Christine McVicker and her friend Jay Johanek of Shickley, NE; grandchildren Zane, Ashlee and Pierce; daughter Denise (Jeff) Cottingham of Gothenburg, NE; granddaughter Whitney; son Brian and his friend Shannon Dush of Columbus, NE; grandchildren Emma and Kaden; and sister Kathy (Denny) Anderson of Racine, WI. Darlene is proceeded in death by her husband, William Brownlow; parents, Otto and Evelyn Schaumburg; brother, Donald Schaumburg.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 19 Sep, 2017,
at 10:30 AM, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, in Riceville.Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Riceville.
