Harriet E. Heuer

November 11, 1923 - July 29, 2017

St. Ansgar - Harriet E. Heuer, 93, of St. Ansgar, died on July 29, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017, at 10:30 AM, at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, with Martha Chancellor conducting the service. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery, Osage, Iowa. Visitation is scheduled from 9:00 to 10:30 AM on Friday morning at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home.

Harriet Bower Heuer was born to Robert and Tessie (Klar) Bower in Mitchell, Iowa, on November 11, 1923. She married Bernard (Dick) Heuer in 1944. Harriet attended school in Mitchell and Hamilton Business College in Mason City, Iowa. Harriet worked as a bookkeeper at Carson Perrier Scott Company in Chicago, Ill. She was a secretary for the Mitchell County Extension Office in Osage, a receptionist and bookkeeper for Dr. Wm. E. Owen in St. Ansgar, treasurer for the St. Ansgar Senior Center and Field Representative for seven counties at Elderbridge Agency in Mason City. She was a member of the St. Ansgar City Council from 1990-1994, Planning and Zoning commission from 1995-2007 and a member of the St. Ansgar Methodist Church.

Harriet loved St. Ansgar. She enjoyed sitting on the breeze way and watching activities in the city park. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Harriet was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter; two brothers, Birchard and Keith Bower; a sister, Kathleen Rowe.

She is survived by daughter, Mary Jane Nolting of Denver, Ia.; son, Bernard Heuer of Mason City; five granddaughters, Angela Nolting of Palmetto, Fl., Lisa (Todd) Jensen of Goodyear, Az., Sara (Jay) Schares of Cedar Falls, Ia., Allison (Eli) Wynes of Iowa City and Elizabeth Heuer of Denver, Co. ; and eight great grandchildren.
