Biography--

Lois Jean Lange, age 88, of La Porte City, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa.

She was born May 26, 1928 in Riceville, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Louise (Rosensweig) Nath. Lois graduated from St. Ansgar High School and Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls. She was united in marriage with Wayne Clifford Lange on May 31, 1947, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Toeterville, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 14, 2012.

Lois began her teaching career at Geneseo and Jubilee Schools. She also taught at the Iowa School for the Blind in Vinton for seven years, and retired in 1985. Lois and her husband owned and operated Lange Trucking and Feed in La Porte City from 1950-1985. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in La Porte City and a former member of Eastern Star. Lois loved to read and enjoyed spending winters in Arizona with her husband.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Philip) Smith of La Porte City and Diane (Dave) Rogers of Elk Run Heights; three grandchildren, Justin Rogers of Bradenton, Florida, Gail Huffman of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Barb Hodges of Crown Point, Indiana; five great-grandchildren; a special little friend, Willow Smith and a sister, La Vonne (Bert) Ferguson of Austin, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and a son, Stephan in infancy.
