ROCHESTER, Minn. — Margaret “Maggie” Ruth Bonnette, 83, of Rochester, formerly of Riceville, Iowa, died February 13, 2017, at her home.
Inurnment will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 18, in the Osage Cemetery, Osage, Iowa.
Celebration of Life will be at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rochester, Minnesota, with visitation one hour before.
Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester, or St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Riceville, Iowa.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ROCHESTER, Minnesota - Margaret “Maggie” Ruth Bonnette, 83, of Rochester, Minnesota, formerly of Riceville, passed away at home surrounded by her family on February 13, 2017, after a long journey with Alzheimer’s.
Inurnment will take place Saturday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m. in the Osage Cemetery, Osage. Celebration of Life will be at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rochester, with visitation one hour before.
Margaret was born February 9, 1934, in Bangor, Wisconson to Vernon & Judith (Danielson) Broberg. She was the fourth in a family of 13 children. They lived in Wisconsin and Minnesota growing up and she graduated from high school in Litchfield, Minnesota.
She enjoyed a variety of jobs: from working in a bakery while still in school, as a telephone operator in Fountain City, Wisconsin and later as a secretary at Watkins, Inc. in Winona, Minnesota where she met Walter Affeldt.
Walter "stole" the secretary away from his boss and they were married on Dec. 18, 1966 in Riceville and resided in McIntire. To this union, they had three daughters: Gayle (Kevin) Barr of Lewiston, Minnesota, Cathy (Daryn) Ruggeberg of Rochester and Ellen (Dave) Felper of Riceville.
Walter passed away on March 4, 1992. Maggie married Clyde Bonnette in November 1993 and they resided in Riceville. Clyde passed away in May 1996.
In 2000, she moved up to Rochester and has lived with Cathy and Daryn.
Along with raising her daughters, Margaret kept busy in life with her variety of hobbies. She loved spending time with her family, had an extra special bond with niece, Gloria Rybacki. She was a fabulous cake maker, creating many wedding, graduation, birthday & baptism cakes. She quilted, crocheted, made ceramics and was well known as the family historian.
Her love for travel took her and her family to many places. Later in life she also took some road trips with her dear friend, Madonna Koebele.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, sister, Doris Marshall; brothers: Curtis, Harley, Lee and Vilas Broberg; son-in-law, Mike Green, and grandson, Kevin Kobernick.
She is survived by her daughters, grandchildren: Kristina (Brian Faulkner), Kayla Kobernick, Keith Kobernick, Benjamin Ruggeberg, Becca Ruggeberg, Lincoln Ruggeberg, Lacey Ruggeberg (Joe Skene), Michael Felper, Carly Felper (Dakota Sprung), Tyler Felper and William Felper and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Norma Isakson, Barbara Haefel, Carol (Al) Christopher; brothers: Arlan, Daryl (Barb), Harold and Everett (Sue) Broberg, along with her many nieces and nephews.
Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester or St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Riceville.
