OSAGE, IOWA — Selma Clarice Klemesrud, age 97, of Osage, died Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Alan Schulz officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage.

Selma was born December 13, 1919, in Goodell, the daughter of Joseph and Martha (Norby) Hagen. She attended school in Miller. The family moved to Osage and she graduated from High School in 1938. Selma was united in marriage to Stanley Klemesrud on September 10, 1950, in Osage. They served as missionaries in Japan for 6 years, and served numerous churches in Iowa and Minnesota until his death in 1977.

Selma moved to Osage and worked as a homemaker health aide and delivered “Meals on Wheels.” Her favorite hobby was playing Scrabble with family and friends. Selma loved her summer visits with grandchildren. Her greatest gift was her service to her family and community.

Selma is survived by her children; Karen (Bill) Sweet of Twin Falls, Idaho, Paul Klemesrud of Mason City and Tim Klemesrud of Osage; three grandchildren, Jeff (Dee) Sweet, Jacqueline (Josh) Jensen both of Twin Falls, Idaho and Jon Sweet of Orange, California; two great-grandchildren Ashlyn and Ethan Sweet.

Selma was preceded in death: Her parents, husband Stanley.
