Phyllis Ann (Boeset) Norby, age 83, of St. Ansgar, died Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1202 390th Street, west of Osage, in Rock Township, with Pastor David A. Werges officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, and will continue one hour before services at the church on Saturday, with the casket open for viewing on both days.

Phyllis was born April 18, 1933, in Grafton, Iowa, to Hugo and Alpha (Schultz) Boeset. She was baptized May 14, 1933, by Rev. Carl Landdeck and was confirmed May 30, 1947, by Rev. Becker. Phyllis graduated from Grafton High School on May 24, 1951.

She married Robert Rosenberg on June 24, 1951. To this union five children were born, Richard, Rebecca, Bradley, Jeffrey and Susan.

On October 29, 1988, she married Harvey Norby at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Rock Township. Phyllis worked for the family business R&R Fertilizer, Red’s Ag in Carpenter, and various other jobs. She loved to sew and made quilts for the family. She also loved to bake and liked to take goodies to the farm. One of the grandchildren called her “Cookie Grandma”. Phyllis and Harvey enjoyed golfing together. As much as possible, they tried to make it to birthday parties for the little ones. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Survivors include her children: Richard (Betty) Rosenberg of St. Ansgar, Rebecca (Marc) Haxton of Clear Lake, Bradley (Pearl) Rosenberg of Roberts, Wisconsin, Jeffrey (Kris) Rosenberg of Grafton, and Susan Horsfall of St. Ansgar; grandchildren: Joe Rosenberg, Julie (Waylon) Brown, Scot (Stephanie) Kofron, Stephanie (Jon) Coolidge, Jeremy (Mandy) Rosenberg, Jamie Rosenberg, Christopher Rosenberg, Mindy (Ryan) Crooks, Emily Valasek, Beth Valasek, Eric (Hope) Buntrock, and Cory (Ashley) Buntrock; extended family: Colette (Randy) Slycord, Christopher Slycord and his wife, Darcy (Jason) Putz, Tony (Linda) Norby, and Megan (Rob) Clarkson; great-grandchildren, Remy, Raina, Reece, Elyse, Colby, Kyle, Colin, Jacob, Tristan, Audri, Braydon, Hallie, Hannah, Mikayla, Kaley, Kelsy, Kylee, Lauren, Sophia, Taya, Isabel, Andrew, Barrett, Grace, Ella, Payton, Macy, Banks, Sam, Carly, and Cooper; brother, Hugh (Jan) Boeset of Naperville, Illinois; sisters, Kathy (Stan) Miller of Plano, Texas, and Angela (Deron) Steiner of Montgomery, Indiana; sister-in-law, Cathy Boeset of Tiffin; Phyllis’ special friend, Saylor Belz of Osage, and many other friends that were special to Phyllis. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harvey Norby in 2012; grandson, Ryan Rosenberg; great-granddaughter, Bree Ellen Rosenberg; brother, Donald Boeset; son-in-law, Frank Horsfall; sister, Barbara Kirchgatter; and step-mother, Maxine Pint.
