Clarice Mae (Kruger) Wilde was born August 11, 1937, on the family farm near Grafton, Iowa, the daughter of Alvin Gustav and Esther Caroline (Walk) Kruger; she was the tenth of thirteen children. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly, Iowa. Through her grade school years Clarice attended country school and then attended Plymouth Public Schools through ninth grade. She then attended and graduated from Grafton High School in 1955 where she loved participating in theater and playing basketball in the state tournament.
On October 28, 1956, Clarice was united in marriage to Robert Charles Wilde at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly. This union would be blessed with four children. She co-owned and operated WE Upholstery with her sister for over 35 years. Clarice possessed many talents and passions and was an excellent seamstress, loved refinishing furniture, crafting, antiquing, gardening, collecting flow blue china, and scrapbooking. Gingersnaps, chocolate chip cookies and chocolate raised donuts were her favorite treats to bake and always have on hand as she worked tirelessly to make every family event special. She loved entertaining, sharing time with friends, shopping, laughter, and good conversations. Clarice was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church, was an active member of WELCA, and served on many boards and committees. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and would have soon been a wonderful great-grandmother. Her family was always her main focus and the pride and love she had for all of them was always evident.
