Thomas "Tom" Dight, 65, of Osage, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Hannibal Regional Medical Center in Hannibal, Missouri.
Thomas James Dight, the son of Howard and Edith (Bethell) Dight, was born November 7, 1950 in Charles City. He started school in 1956 at Ulster Country School #8 then moved on to Charles City public schools, graduating from Charles City High School in 1968. He attended NIACC for mechanics and graduated with his Associate's Degree in 1970. After college Tom served his country in the National Guard.
Tom was united in marriage to Pamala Demaray on August 5, 1972 at the Rudd United Methodist Church. The couple raised two daughters: Jenny and Amanda. Tom worked for Tops Business Forms for over 30 years. He continued his mechanical interest from college in his spare time, tinkering with small engines. He loved listening to or watching NASCAR.
As a child, Tom was in the Floyd County 4H program showing livestock and as an adult he was a member of the Double C Saddle Club, Horseman of Iowa, and NISCA. Tom and his daughters were involved in horse shows for over 30 years. More than anything else, he loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Living family members include his wife of 44 years, Pam; two daughters: Jenny (Brett) Benedict of Huxley, and Amanda (Matt) Harvey of Hannibal, Missouri; six grandchildren: Bowen and Arden Benedict of Huxley, and Sophia, Matilynn, Skyler, and Beck Harvey of Hannibal, Missouri; brothers: Robert (Marian) Dight of Charles City, and Richard (Brenda) Dight of Rudd; father-in-law: Leighton Demaray; siblings-in-law: Connie (Gene) Schuster, Steve (Cheri) Demaray, Marilyn Demaray, Debbie (Benny) Hufft, Mike (Julie) Demaray, and Kim (Jerry) McDowell; many other family members and friends, and his family dog Tia.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law Catherine Demaray; twin sisters at birth; brother, Charlie (Jane) Dight; nephew, Kyle Dight; and brothers-in-law, Jack Spence and Jay Demaray.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
