Mildred Grace Anderson, 92 Riceville passed away at the Riceville Community Rest Home on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000. Funeral services was held at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville on Friday, Nov. 27, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Michael Carey officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Riceville. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Mildred was born on November 26, 1907 in Riceville, Iowa to Roy Newcomb Holbrook and Edna May Bathen Holbrook. She attended local schools and graduated from Riceville High School in 1925. After high school, Mildred attended Iowa State Teachers College receiving her teaching degree in Commercial Education. On May 23, 1929 she was united in marriage to John Lee Anderson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

Mildred taught business at the Riceville High School from 1943 to 1947 and assisted her husband in farming north of Riceville. Mildred and John retired in 1951 and traveled extensively, finally making their home in Florida. In 1982 they returned to Riceville.

Mildred was a member of the Riceville First United Methodist Church in Riceville, Riceville Garden Club and was active in Farm Bureau before her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband John in 1991.
