Obituary for Thomas Dean Bonnette

Thomas Dean Bonnette, 69, of Riceville, Iowa, died unexpectedly at his home in Riceville, on Monday April 25, 2016.

Tom was born August 26, 1946 in Charles City, Iowa, to Clyde and Arlene (Larsen) Bonnette. He was a graduate of Riceville Community High School. On February 13, 1965 he was united in marriage to Anna Marie Runde at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in LeRoy, Minnesota, and to this union two children were born-Seth and Sherrie. Tom began farming and was a Moorman Feed salesman. Tom worked at White Farm - New Idea Equipment Co. in Charles City until its closing in 1993.

Over the course of his life, Tom was actively involved in Boy Scouts and took them camping year round! He was also very involved in JCs for example all the pancake breakfasts, Cancer Bowl-A-Thons, and endless selling of jelly by his children pulling a red Radio Flyer wagon throughout Riceville.

Tom enjoyed watching anything grow and being involved with any and all children. He was the first to join in a wild and vicious card game or backyard neighborhood football game! He was a football enthusiast and drove all the way to the Rose Bowl with a car full of boys. He also loved going uptown to have coffee with the crew.

At the age of 32 Tom learned how to play guitar and many nights were spent at gigs and in the family room singing away. Tom enjoyed working with his hands doing woodworking with his Dad, Clyde. He enjoyed amusement parks like no other-totally an adult, but kid at heart. What Tom has thoroughly enjoyed first and foremost his four grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Anna of Riceville, a son Seth (Christina) of Denver, Iowa, a daughter Sherrie (Christopher) Coffee of Storm Lake, Iowa. Also surviving are grandchildren: McKenzie Coffee, Beau, Rhett and Cade Bonnette and a sister Karen (Jim) Gray, DVM of Spring Grove, Minnesota.
