Knute Knutson Rites Thursday
FUNERAL SERVICES CONDUCTED AT MONA LUTHERAN CHURCH THURSDAY AFTERNOON
Knute O. Knutson, 73, one of the early settlers here, died at his home in Lyle Monday morning, of last week following an illness of several months. The funeral was held at the Mona church on Thursday afternoon, with Rev. Olaf A. Langehough in charge and burial was made in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
The eldest son of Ole and Ingeborg Knutson, Knute was born near Black Earth, Wisconsin, September 2nd, 1860. In 1867 he came to Mitchell county with his parents. He was confirmed at the St. Ansgar Lutheran church by Rev. Olson in 1875.
He attended country school and Luther College at Decorah. He was employed by Peterson & Pierson in the hardware business for a while and then returned to farming. He was married to Gertrude Northness December 3rd, 1896, and to this union four children were born.
Surviving are Orin, at home; Ina Bowers, Bessie Schultz and Lena Laraaen, of St. Ansgar. His wife preceded him in death in 1904; four sisters: Anna Johnson, who lived with him; Bertha Hall, Christena Krause of Peoria, Ill., and Mathilda Kittleson of St. Ansgar survive. One brother, Sever of Flingal, N. D., also survives.
Mr. Knutson had enjoyed good health until last September. His condition gradually grew worse until it was necessary for him to be confined to his bed since December. He was a resident of Lyle for the past six years.
