Died April 5, 2016

Byron John Hinrichsen, age 58, of Osage, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2016, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home.

Byron was born August 1, 1957, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Robert and Louise (Shomber) Hinrichsen. He was baptized at St. James Lutheran Church in Mason City. Byron graduated from Osage High School in 1977. In June of 1979, he married Deborah Wyant at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage They later divorced.

Over the years, Byron delivered “Grit” newspapers, worked at Pizza Inn, O’Connor’s Standard Service and Winnebago Industries, helped his father in the upholstery shop, and was a self-employed scrapper. He enjoyed collecting metal die-cast truck banks, working outdoors, helping people, and collecting junk.

Byron is survived by his mother, Louise Hinrichsen, his brother, Mark (Kim) Hinrichsen, his nephew, Michael Hinrichsen, and his niece, Jessie (Brandon) Parcel, all of Osage; aunts, Barbara Miller of Osage, Dorothy Turner of Council Bluffs, Linda Riker of Osage, and Shirley Ames of Ottawa, Kansas; uncle, Larry L. Moody of Apple Valley, California; and a number of cousins and numerous special friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hinrichsen; his grandparents; and sister-in-law, Linnette (Miller) Hinrichsen.
