Erma May Torney was born July 15, 1906, at Riceville, Mitchell, Iowa, to George E Torney and Myrtle Delphine Auringer, the third of their four children.
Found in the 1910, 1915 censuses at Jenkins, Mitchell, Iowa:
1910: George E Torney 35, Myrtle D Torney 26, Glendon G Torney 7, Goldey B Torney 5, Enna M Torney 3, Syd D Torney 1.
1915: Erma May Torney age 8.
Found in the 1920, 1925 censuses at Riceville, Mitchell, Iowa:
1920: Myrtle Torney 36, Glendon Torney 17, Goldie Torney 15, Irma Torney 13, Loyd Torney 10, Goodrun Buttolph 21.
1925: Myrtle D Taney 41, Margaret N Auringer 73 (her mother), Glendon Torney 22, Enma Tomey 18.
Erma attended two years of college at the Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, Black Hawk, Iowa and became a teacher.
She married Gale Monroe Fenstermaker on December 28, 1929 at Waterloo, Black Hawk, Iowa.
The couple had 3 daughters: Elizabeth, June and Imogene.
Found in the 1940 census living at Waterloo, Black Hawk, Iowa: Gale Fenstermaker 30, Erma Fenstermaker 32, Elizabeth Fenstermaker 9, June Fenstermaker 8, Imogene Fenstermaker 6. Gale is working at Rath's Meat Packing.
Erma May Fenstermaker died January 11, 1998, at Waterloo, Black Hawk, Iowa and was buried at the Fairview Cemetery, Waterloo, Black Hawk, Iowa.
There is a memorial for her at Find A Grave #77183490 with gravestone photos.
