Died February 5, 2016
Sheryl E. Ellingson I, age 82, of Osage, died Friday, February 5, 2016, at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2016, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Bryan Lagerstam officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral in Osage.
He was born December 10, 1933, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Martin and Laura (Kollmann) Ellingson. He graduated from Osage Community High School in 1951. On October 31, 1954, Sheryl married Rose Adams at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage. He was employed by Kollmann Quarries, Inc. in Osage.
Sheryl was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed music and always had a nice stereo. Sheryl would call his children by their birth order number, not their name. He read Consumer Reports cover to cover and let everyone know how their cars and appliances were rated.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Ellingson of Osage; his children, Nancy (Derrel) Putman of Ankeny, Neal Ellingson, Audrey (Keith) Popp, and Sheryl (Lori) Ellingson II, all of Osage, Jill (Ted) Kiefer of Taopi, Minnesota, and Jim (Kelli) Ellingson of Altoona; ten grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Marloe (Alice) Ellingson of Osage, and Gary (Sharon) Ellingson of Austin, Minnesota; and sister-in-law, Sharon Ellingson of Strasburg, North Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Delores Robison; brother, Larry Ellingson; step-brothers, Maurice Ellingson and Merle Ellingson; and step-sister, Kathryn Asfal.
