Sigurd S Sponheim was born January 1, 1882 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Knute Olesen Sponheim and Julia Isaacsdatter Osa, the second of their six children. His siblings were: Synnova K; Oscar Bernhardt; Clara; Clara Susannah and Clarence Fritchoff.
Sigurd was baptized on February 12, 1882 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. He was confirmed at same on January 13, 1897.
Found in the 1885 census living on a farm at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa: Knud Sponheim 34, Garo Sponheim 30, Sunva Sponheim 4, Sagurd Sponheim 3.
Found in the 1900 census at Mitchell, Mitchell, Iowa: Knudt Sponheim 48, Julia Sponheim 44, Sigant Sponheim 18, Oscar B Sponheim 13, Frehard C Sponheim 3.
In 1908, Sigurd moved to South Dakota to homestead farmland.
He married Mabel B Ells on November 25, 1908 at Lyman, Brule, South Dakota. The couple had 1 son, Cecil F (b abt 1908).
Found in the 1910 - 1945 censuses at Forbes, Charles Mix, South Dakota:
1910: Sigurd Spoorheim 28, Mable B Spoorheim 21, Cecil F Spoorheim 1 yr 11 mos.
1915: Sigurd Sponheim age 33
1940: Sigurd Sponheim 55, Mabel B Sponheim 51. Farming.
1945: Sigurd Sponheim age 63.
Sigurd S Sponheim died March 19, 1969 at Sturgis, Meade, South Dakota. He is buried at Platte City Cemetery, Platte, Charles Mix, South Dakota.
There is a memorial for him at Find a Grave # 81429576.
