Mrs. John Gunsallus

OSAGE, IOWA - Funeral services for Mrs. John (Esther) Gunsallus, age 71, who died Thursday at the Osage Nursing Home, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Our Saviors Lutheran Church; the Rev Robert Floy, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Toeterville.

The Champion Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Esther Emma Brandt was born May 23, 1902, near St. Ansgar, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Bertha Bruggemann Brandt. She was married April 6. 1925, to John Gunsallus, and the couple lived at St. Ansgar, Osage, and most recently at Mclntire. Mrs. Gunsallus had been in poor health after suffering a stroke in May 1972. She had been a resident of the Osage Nursing Home one week

She is survived by her husband, at Mclntire; two daughters, Mrs. Russell (Avis) Wood, Rudd, and Mrs. Robert (Marlys) Starry, Mclntire; a son, Merlyn Gunsallus, Mclntire; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Art Holm and Mrs. Marion Wright, Osage, and Mrs. Edwin Dammen, Mitchell and one brother, Roy Brandt, Cresco.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a sister, and a son, Orvis.
