Obituary

H. Hovelson was born in Norway in 1806. He emigrated to this country in 1850 and settled in Iowa county, Wis. in 1863 he sold out and moved to Dakota; settled in Yankton county, near Yankton. Not being suited with the country, he with his family moved to West Mitchell, in '65, where he has since resided, Since his 70th year he has visited his native land three times.

Since his return to this country he has lived with his sons. He died at the home of Hover Hovelson at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 22 days. Burial services were held at the Lutheran church at Rock Creek September 11, 18891, and his remains interred in the Lutheran cemetery at Rock Creek.

Mr. Hovelson was a devout Christian gentleman. The Sunday next to his last on earth, he attended church. It was not communion day, but he requested the minster to administer the sacrament to him, which was granted, and the deceased knelt at the altar and took communion alone. The Sunday preceding his death he walked to prayer meeting. These two incidents testify that his religion from his early experience in Christ till his dying day never flagged. Deceased leaves a wife and two sons to mourn his death.
