Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Tesch, 62, who died at the Good Shepherd Health center in Mason City, January 7, were held January 11 at the Trinity Lutheran church in Mason City with the Rev. LaVern R. Hanson officiating.

Helen Thelma Tesch was born November 15, 1914 in Joice, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Smesrud. She was baptized December 20, 1914 in Joice. Her family moved to St. Ansgar when she was two years old, and she was confirmed at First Lutheran church here May 26, 1929.

She married Julius Tesch October 24, 1940. Her husband taught school in St. Ansgar, Brownsdale, Minn., Titonka, Clear Lake and for 22 years at Mason City high school. She was very active in church work and was a leader of her Bible study for a number of years. After her husband's death in 1974 she moved in Springdale, Ark. where her brother and sister-in-law live. In her Springdale home she was very active in the Welcome Wagon Calling Committee.

Returning for a visit at Thanksgiving in 1976, Mrs. Tesch became ill while visiting friends in Clear Lake. She was hospitalized in Mason City for a few weeks and then transferred to the Good Shepherd Health Center.

Mrs. Tesch is survived by one brother, Vernon Smesrud of Springdale, Ark.; one sister, Mrs. Robert Nyman of Key Largo, Fla; a number of nieces and nephews.

Burial was in First Lutheran cemetery in St. Ansgar with Rev. Hanson in charge of the committal services.
