David A. Weipert

David A. Weipert, age 68, of Osage, lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, June 28, 2015, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. Inurnment will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Osage with Full Military Honors by the Walter T. Enneberg American Legion Post 358 of St. Ansgar. Following the inurnment, there will be a time for lunch and fellowship at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

David was born March 21, 1947 in Iowa City, the son of Edmund and Flavia (Sandry) Weipert. He grew up in the Riceville area and graduated from Riceville High School in 1965. He was looking forward to his 50th class reunion this year and riding in the parade. After high school he served in the US Army. David was united in marriage to Lois Hoffman on August 18, 1969, in Des Moines. He was a member of the American Legion Post 358 in St. Ansgar.

David is survived his wife, Lois Weipert of Osage; his children, Tina (Gene) Thorne of Cresco, Sonia Mayer of Waterloo and David C. Weipert of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
