OSAGE, IOWA - Helen Ann Emerson, 72, of Osage, and formerly of Little Cedar, died Monday, June 1, 2015, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 4, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Roy Ott officiating.
Burial will be in the Little Cedar Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Helen Emerson
(Died June 1, 2015)
Helen Ann Emerson, age 72, of Osage, Iowa, and formerly of Little Cedar, died Monday, June 1, 2015, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, after a short battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be in the Little Cedar Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Memorials may be directed to Bridges Mentoring Program or the Mitchell County Food Bank.
Helen was born December 3, 1942, in Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Urban and Ruth (Squier) Thompson. She graduated from Osage High School in 1961. Helen married La Mar Emerson at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage. She was an active partner in farming with her husband. She also worked at Fox River Mills and was employed by Mitchell County Home Health for over 30 years. After retirement, she worked at Emerson’s on Main. Helen was a lifelong member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed attending school events.
Helen is survived by her children, Keith (Marsha) Emerson of Little Cedar, Kirk (Lisa) Emerson of Osage, and Ken (Diane) Emerson of Osage; grandchildren, Sara (Jon Jacobs) Emerson, Amy (Johnny) Hartson, Alex Emerson, and Derik Emerson; great-grandchildren, Ella Rose and Anthony La Mar; brother, Clarence (Bonnie) Thompson of Napa, California; sister-in-law, Mildred Thompson of Osage; good friend and cousin, Richard Lunde of Osage; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Jeremy Hahn of Osage; and her dog, Sam.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, La Mar Emerson in 2006; and brothers, Robert, Kenneth, and Harold Thompson.
